John Jr was the eldest of John and Rose. He was baptized at St.Agatha's Church on May 16, 1875 by Reverend M. McEvoy. His sponsors were Thomas Ryan and Ann Flanagan. He was confirmed on February, 15, 1885, John Joseph McNamee, at St James Church. He was confirmed by Archbishop P.J. Ryan. John Jr. married in 1902 to Lena Sanford, daughter of Robert Sanford and Elizabeth Mangus, Indiana, PA. Lena Sanford-McNamee died on September, 5, 1903. John and Lena had one son, Robert, who was born in 1903. John Jr, age 35 years old, died on February 20, 1910. His son, Robert, was an orphan, at the age of 8. Robert was raised by his grandparents. Robert married Marion Hanarty. He worked as a postal clerk and died March 6, 1926 from acute appendicitis.
James was the second eldest of John and Rose. According to the 1900 census, he was born on January,8, 1877. He was delivered by Dr. J. Roulston Wills and he resided at 54 Lancaster Avenue. James' family resided at 15 Silliman Street, near 42nd Street. He was baptized at Our Mother of Sorrows Church on January 21, 1877. His sponsors were J. Hagan and Mary Flannigan. His Confirmation Certificate states he was confirmed on May 26, 1892. He was confirmed, James Joseph McNamee, at St. Agatha's Church. He was confirmed by Archbishop P.J. Ryan.
On the 1900 census, his occupation is listed as a driver. He lived at 4073 Wallace Street with his wife, Margaret (Barton), who was born November, 1880 and son, James, who was born April 1900. James, age 38 years, died May 11, 1915 of Tuberculosis. At the time of his death, his residence was listed 4035 Reno Street and his occupation was carriage-washer.
Elizabeth was born on January 16, 1879. She was baptized at St. Agatha's Church on January 26, 1879 by Rev. John E. Fitzmaurice. Her sponsors were James O'Neill and Lydia O'Neill. Marriage application of May 11, 1897 - Thomas Dudley, born Newark, NJ on 25th of July, 1868, living at 4640 Aspen St, Philadelphia to Lizzie McNamee (application signed by her father, John McNamee). They were married May 17, 1897. The ceremony was performed by Father P. F. or P.J. McNulty.
Tom and Lizzie had one daughter, Gertrude, who died 1898 at 2 hours old. In 1910, Tom and Elizabeth Dudley were living at 649 N. May Street. In 1920, Tom and Elizabeth were living at 501 Haverford Avenue, next door to Elizabeth's Uncle, Bart Flanigan. Elizabeth died on December 12, 1922 at the age of 42. Tom Dudley was buried on May 7, 1934 at Holy Cross Cemetery. He was 65 years old.
Margaret was born on March 12, 1881. She was baptized at St. Agatha's Church on March 20, 1881 by Rev. P.N. Brannan. Her sponsors were Thomas McNamee and Ann McElhone. She was buried as Maggie MacNamee according to the 1895 City Index. At the time of her death, her parents were living at 772 Lex Street. She died May 30, 1895. She was buried on June 3, 1895 at Holy Cross Cemetery. Her cause of death was Typhoid Fever. The doctor at the time was U.G. Heil who resided at 879 Belmont Street. Her body was reinterred October of 1900 and placed with her sister, Mary, in the family plot
Bernard was born on December 10, 1882. He was delivered by Dr. A.F. Chase at 504 N. 46th Street. He was baptized at St. Agatha's Church on December 17, 1882 by Rev. J.J. McAnany. His sponsors were J. McAleer and Elizabeth McNamee. Bernard J. McNamee (roofer) married Gertrude Laura Wood on April 13, 1905. They had seven children: Helen, Elizabeth Florence, Bernard, Bernard Joseph, Margaret, Rose and living son. Helen was born in 1906. Elizabeth Florence was born November 28, 1907 and died in 1989. Bernard was born September 3, 1909 and died August 18, 1910. Bernard Joseph was born in 1913. Margaret was born 1916 and died January 11, 1970. Rose was born in 1919 and living son was born in 1921.
Robert was born on November 18, 1884. He was delivered by Dr. E.E. Davies. He was baptized at St. Agatha's Church on November 30, 1884 by Rev. R.P. Tobin. His sponsors were Bernard McNamee and Ann McAleer. Marriage application of October 17, 1908 - Robert E. (Emmett) McNamee (Machinist) born Philadelphia, November 18, 1884 living at 4129 Warren Street to Jennie E. (Jane Ellen) Foy (Millhand), born in New Castle, Delaware, on April 10, 1890. She was living at 2419 Buttonwood Street. (Note because of her age, the marriage application was signed by her father, Michael Foy). Robert and Jennie were married November 25th of 1908 at St. Francis Xavier Church at 2321 Green Street in Philadelphia. The witnesses to the marriage were Thomas McCarthy and Margaret Berger.
Rose was born on January 18, 1887. She was delivered by Dr. W.C. Perkins at 38th Street. Her family was residing at 3862 Story Street. She was baptized at St. Agatha's Church on January 30, 1887 by Rev. John J. Clarke. Her sponsors were Bernard Logue and Margaret Smith.
Marriage application of November 1906 - Joseph M. Duffy (Roofer) born in Philadelphia, March 12, 1880, living at 835 N. 43rd Street to Rose M. McNamee born in Philadelphia, February 18, 1887 living at 4129 Warren Street. John M. McNamee, her father, signed for her.
Joseph Duffy died and was buried December 30, 1910 at Holy Cross Cemetery. Rose never remarried. She was buried September 13, 1969 in Holy Cross Cemetery. Son, Alfred Joseph Duffy, was born March 2, 1908 in West Philly Hospital for Women. Al attended St. Ignatius School in West Philadelphia. Obiturary for Albert J. Duffy (note spelling) retired Roofer, John C. Muller Inc. of Upper Darby. Al died December 11, 1986. He was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Daughter, Gertrude Maria Elizabeth Duffy, was born 1909. She was confirmed by the Most Rev Archbishop D. J. Dougherty on November 24, 1918. Gertrude Duffy Caldren was buried June 22nd 1929. I believe my mother mentioned that she had been married for one year.
Mary was born on September 12, 1888. She was baptized at St. Agatha's Church on September 23, 1888 by Rev. M.A. Hand. Her sponsors were Hugh McGurk and Catherine McGurk. Mary died July 21, 1900. At the time of her death, her parents were living at 662 North 42nd Street. She was buried on July 24, 1900 at Holy Cross Cemetery. Her cause of death was given as aortic regurgitation. Her sister, Margaret, was buried alongside her in the family plot.
